Victory Early Butternut

This butternut is a top choice for any short-season garden, producing fruits well before the onset of cold weather. The fruits are medium sized around 18cm (7") long, weighing 1.2kg (2.5lbs). Grow in fertile soil and give a lot of room.

Growing

  • Direct sow seeds 2cm (1") deep, or transplant in mid June when the soils are warm.
  • Can be started indoors 3-4 weeks before transplanting in warm soil. Make sure plants are in the ground no later than June 15th.
  • Space plants 23cm (9") apart in rows 90cm (36") apart.
  • Seeds should sprout in 7-14 days
  • Matures in 88 days (from transplant)
  • Make successive plantings every 2-3 weeks until 3 months before the first fall frost date.
