Sweet Basil

Sweet Basil is a large-leaved Italian type that is exactly what you need for making pesto. This is a vigorous plant with large green leaves that will produce all summer long–just be sure to continually pinch back the growing tips to encourage more bushiness!

• The plant grows to 25cm (10")
• Plant in full sun
• Requires light, fertile & well draining soil, and warmth. Can be grown indoors year round.
• Seeds should germinate in 5-10 days. Ideal soil temperature for germination is 21°C
• Start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost or direct sow 1cm (1/2") once the soil has warmed up
• Zone 3-10
• Pinch growing tips to encourage bushy growth, once the plants are at least 15cm (6") tall
