Gold Rush

Gold Rush are long, straight, stringless, yellow beans, growing 10-12cm (4-5") long. They're great for freezing and pickling with their lovely flavour and crisp texture.

Growing

Direct sow between late-May to the end of June as long as the soils are warm. If the soil is not warm enough, the seeds will rot. Plant 2-5cm (1-2") deep, 5-8cm (2-3"). Seeds sprout in 8-16 days depending on conditions but can also be started indoors and carefully put out a few weeks later. For a continuous harvest, plant at 3 week intervals.

  • Optimal soil temperature is between 21-32°C
  • Space plants 15cm (6") apart
  • Matures in 58 days
  • The smaller the bean, the more tender they are
