Kentucky Wonder Brown (Pole Bean)

Kentucky Wonder Brown is a brown-seeded, heirloom, pole bean. Expect large clusters of 18-25cm (7-10") long pods. This variety requires adequate support for climbing and it sprouts better in cool soils.

Growing

Direct sow between late-May to the end of June as long as the soils are warm. Plant 2-5cm (1-2") deep, 7-10cm (2.3") apart at the base of a support. Plants will climb by twining around almost anything. Seeds sprout in 8-16 days depending on conditions.

  • Optimal soil temperature is between 21-32°C but can be started a little earlier
  • Space plants 15cm (6") apart
  • Matures in 70 days
  • Freezes nicely for storage and winter meals
